Personal injury is defined as general physical and/or psychological damages to an individual that is the fault/s of another responsible party, be it a driver of another car, an individual, employer or the owner or manager of a public space. Have you suffered an injury from:
A motor vehicle accident, such as a car, boat, bike, train?
A product that was defective?
A property that was defective?
A workplace incident?
At a public event?
If you have suffered an injury due to someone else's negligence, contact Debra Spizzo & Associates immediately. We can help you.
Victims of Crime Compensation
The South Australian Government can provide compensation to injured victims of crime, even if the offender cannot be found or is unable to pay. This includes physical and mental injury, but not property loss or damage. Not just a person who is an immediate victim of an offence can claim compensation for injury caused by the offence. Further, the offence must meet one of the following criteria:
It involved the use of violence (or threat of violence) against the person or a member of their immediate family or;
It created a reasonable fear of imminent harm to the person or a member of their immediate family or;
It was a sexual offence or;
It caused death or physical injury.
An immediate victim of an offence includes:
A person who suffers physical injury as a result of the offence;
A person who suffers psychological injury as a result of the direct circumstances of the offence or from operations in the immediate aftermath;
A parent or guardian of a child if the offence was committed against a child;
A member of the immediate family of the deceased where a victim dies as a result of the offence.

Intervention Orders
In 2015, our Principal Solicitor Debra Spizzo built and managed a Domestic Violence Service for Women in Adelaide, the first of it's kind in South Australia. Debra is arguably the "go to person" when dealing with domestic violence orders in South Australia. Intervention orders (formerly called restraining orders) are put in place in order to restrict the behaviour or actions of a particular person. They are usually granted to protect people from domestic or family abuse. Intervention Orders can be applied for privately by an individual or the Police (often in response to a criminal offence).
Are you experiencing domestic violence, including physical, emotional or financial abuse?
Have you not yet reported this to police, or are the Police unwilling to lodge an Intervention Order on your behalf?
Do you need assistance defending an Intervention Order that has been placed on you?
